Crosswort is a member of the rubiaceae to which belong goosegrass, ladies's (and other) bedstraw, Sweet Woodruffe and many other often-overlooked plants. As a group, they all seem to be edible, though somewhat flavourless and sometimes not of a pleasant consistency.
